Update 2022: For a while now, the CFL publishes reports (example) each practice day leading up to each game indicating who participated/did not participate in practice, the reason, and their probability of playing in the upcoming game for both teams. The below is outdated.

You may have heard the stink about the lack of information to the media on Ricky Ray’s injury. No update from the coach until Thursday? What shall they write about?

Spinning it for the need to promote the team and sell tickets? Our star is injured, come on out to the next game! Adding a league injury policy? Let’s keep the CFL libertarian and try not to make it like that other league. We don’t need a CFL beholden to gamblers.

Why teams in any sport try to hide injuries that occur during games, I don’t know. I do know that the CFL is only practicing what is policy in other leagues so they don’t deserve criticism for it.
