A return to partial interlocking play may be the silver lining discovered inside a cloud of misfortune that becomes a permanent return, akin to the Alouettes forced exit from the Big O to Molson Stadium. Decades of evidence that a full interlocking schedule did not level competition or increase fan interest due to variety was never enough to reverse the 1981 decision, but a pandemic may provide the experiment that proves the opposite.
Today’s Nov. 20th schedule release is now the earliest schedule release, perhaps ever, with the previous known earliest coming Nov. 24, 1982 for the 1983 season.
