Getty is half of the interesting, uniquely Canadian story of Getty and Peter Lougheed, Eskimo players and Alberta premiers. Getty had a longer football career (11 years versus 2) but shorter term at premier (7 years versus 14), but together they started 44 years of Tories ruling the province that ended in 2015. Getty built a political legacy to be remembered for, but was cemented in Eskimo and CFL history long ago.
My condolences to the Getty family.

The CFL lost an accomplished player and alumni on Friday. Never missed a game, 175 consecutive games played. An amazing feat in any era. My condolences to the Kelly family and friends who are mourning his loss.

The lowdown on the renovations occurring at BMO Field, with a few notes on the Argonauts (check out the video too). The new family zone is one option offered to fans to have a great football experience in a much more intimate stadium. Though fewer seats, all are equal or superior to any seat at Rogers Centre.

Placing the showcase championship game in the nation’s capital on the country’s 150th anniversary makes perfect sense, but does bringing every sporting event possible to Ottawa in 2017? I suspect Ottawa will be saturated and some events will have less than the full interest and support they deserve from of the community.
Ottawa has expressed interest in hosting the 105th Grey Cup in 2017 for some time, most recently in Sept. which preceded disappointment in October that an announcement wasn’t made. Now maybe the media understands it won’t be awarded until bids are submitted.

Information on the BMO Field seating configuration, pricing and ticket dates/deadlines were released by the Toronto Argonauts today. Fans who have renewed seats for 2016 with a ticket deposit begin the selection process for their seat location this Thursday, Feb. 4th, giving them a few days to review the new seating map. New fans with deposits get their chance starting Feb. 12th. Fans who have not renewed have until Feb. 19th to place deposits for 2016 before season tickets go on sale to the public March 1st. All season ticket holders have the opportunity to purchase their seats for the 104th Grey Cup in November, the only sure way of getting seats to the 2016 championship game.
