A good base, but not the immediate Grey Cup contenders predicted nor the chaos across the league with teams ready to close up shop due to the loss of players. The board of governors, who set the rules well in advance, provided GM’s a nice loophole with potential free agents, limiting Ottawa’s choices beyond the protected lists.
Be prepared for the next one, fans. Whether your team finishes last or first, you will lose players if the league expands. You’ve gone through one now, so the fear of the unknown should be gone next time.
