This interesting article on Ryan Reaves latest shot to prove himself in the NHL and a contrast of his in battle demeanour versus his dad’s brought back great memories of his dad Willard’s days with the Blue Bombers. He played only five short seasons (53 career touchdowns, 5,923 rushing yards and 1,202 receiving yards in 62 regular season games), but his legacy is cemented by the type of person he was. I still remember Willard giving signed footballs to special fans every time he scored a touchdown in Winnipeg.

If today’s players came up with something as individual as that, they will find it will be much more memorable (with immediate and long term impacts) than the forgettable stuff they choreograph for their celebrations. I think people have forgotten you can give back to your community in small, personal ways.
