I imagine the sticking point is who will pay for 30,000 temporary seats to be erected on the old site. Surely the Lions won’t pay for those costs and would also want compensation for being kicked out BC Place.

Will there ever be as great a nickname as “The Rifle”? Merci Sam.

Perhaps we could see fantasy-friendly stats on CFL.ca next year. Instead of deaf ears, commissioner Cohon understands you have to look at what the public are asking for. Twitter is great for this direct connection to the top, bypassing the unimaginative barriers.

Still no official word on the impact to the Lions.

Steve Simmons misses the point on the Stefan LeFors pay cut by stating the Bombers forcing a pay cut on him under threat of being cut is contrary to the CFL/CFLPA bargaining agreement. In fact, teams are allowed to cut players with less than 5 years (I believe) experience at any time during the season and not be responsible for their remaining salary.
The issue with this situation is the timing of the request, which was the day prior to LeFors undergoing an MRI which determined the extent of his shoulder injury. The Bombers needed to cut LeFors in order to resign him to the smaller contract, and cutting injured players is forbidden by the CFLPA collective agreement. While threatening players with unemployment in order to reduce their salary may be unethical, it happens where ever there are no guaranteed contracts. The legal issue is with the timing of the situation with regards to the injury. Without the player initiating a complaint with the players association, though, you can expect little to be done.

Excellent tutorial from Tom Higgins and the CFL Officiating Mechanics Manual of in-goal/out-of-bounds scenarios involving the pylon.

When Mike Kelly’s way of doing things opens the door for player grievances you got to think Lyle Bauer needs to send him to school. If both of them survive until next season I will be surprised. One thing is for sure — the Winnipeg media sure have Kelly in their sights.
