Joseph Feels ”Shoved out the Door”

Published on May 31, 2008 12:42 PM

The loyalty questions of Saskatchewan GM Eric Tillman comes down to loyalty to the team first over individual players. Tillman’s philosophy is that teams are hard to build around one high-priced quarterback; he would rather use those extra dollars elsewhere on his team.

Vanderjagt back with Argos; Prefontaine to Edmonton?

Published on May 30, 2008 10:22 PM

If true, this seems fairly short-sighted. The Argos deal their younger, tested punter/kicker for a 38-year old who is an unknown quantity at this point. On the other side, this fills a major question mark for the Eskimos in their kicking positions. (Now confirmed.)

Smith Supports Ottawa Ownership Group

Published on May 27, 2008 7:57 PM

Interesting that Smith approached Roger Greenberg about purchasing the Ottawa franchise in the mid-90’s. Smith is often criticized for bringing in less than reputable and financially robust owners during his tenure as commissioner. It was a tough period for the league, and any failures were not due to not talking to the right people.

A great showcase for CFL quarterbacks, hopefully Damon Allen will continue to hold this charitable event.

TO QB Controversy

Published on May 27, 2008 7:47 PM

With Damon Allen’s pending retirement, the controversy will be between Kerry Joseph and Michael Bishop. You can bet media and fans will be calling for the backup after every stalled drive. They could become one the most exciting tandems in the CFL in a while if they both stretch defences and light up the scoreboard.

Grading the Off-season

I don’t think these grades will reflect the final standings. Salary cap considerations didn’t appear to factor into the grades at all.

Montreal Grey Cup Organizers Set Goal

A sellout of 68,400 fans to set a Grey Cup attendance record. Hopefully they can accomplish it, even if Montreal does not look like favourites with a rookie coach and ageing team.
