The following changes have been made to CFLdb Statistics since the last report:
Along with other cosmetic, data, performance, administrative, or infrastructure related bug fixes and enhancements (21 commits this month).
Special acknowledgement to Dennis, Mark, Bill, and Tim this month.
CFLdb Statistics has been impacted by statistics source changes at the league level. We do not know when, or even if, we will have restored access to game and other statistics from the league. We have waited through months of uncertainty with the hope of restoriation of service or some communication of our place within the new direction of the league before making any radical changes.
Rather than wait any longer, we will assume the worst and there will be less emphasis on the current season, and more emphasis on historical seasons. First step this month will be restoring access to recent season statistics.
Going forward, this may mean the last season with statistics available will be 2022. Also, without access to league sources, changes and corrections to game stats will not be reflected on CFLdb Statistics. This means, even more so than in the past, CFLdb Statistics will be unofficial and likely to contain errors.
We believe we can add value for the era prior to ≈2003, as we always have, and much of our effort may shift towards gathering the data needed to improve the infomoration going back through the seasons.
We don’t know the future for league statistics, nor the effort or conditions for CFLdb Statistics to integrate. The new system could be operational this month or not until next year. It could be available for our integration under the same conditions, and improved, or it could be pay-to-play, which will effectively exclude CFLdb from consuming. It could include only 2023 and forward data, or it could have the last 20 years of data. If could be pristine and clean or it could be riddled with errors or otherwise require much effort to ingest. As we are having patience while trying to restore as much information as possible, we ask you have patience with us as well.
Please report any issues you come across in the data on the site or in its display. If you have concerns over the absence of data or how it is displayed, please let CFLdb know. Thank you for taking the time to make the site better by adding information and sources, eliminating errors and correcting misleading information.
If CFLdb missed your contribution this or any other month, please send a gentle reminder so the record may be corrected. And apologies for the unintended slight.
Send all contributions, corrections and suggestions to me via methods found on the Contact page. All contributions are credited, with more prominent credit for the largest statistics contributors on the CFLdb Statistics contributor page. The contributor list does, then, reflect the true owners of the site, those that research, compile and contribute data and corrections.
