The following changes have been made to CFLdb Statistics since the last report:
Along with other cosmetic, data, performance, administrative, or infrastructure related bug fixes and enhancements (121 commits this month).
Special acknowledgement to contributors Mark, Cathy and Tim this month.
A bug was fixed this month for an issue that caused the League Avg. +/- to be incorrectly reported against the previous season league average rather than the current season for teams (Team Summary tab on League Season Attendance page). The calculation and data for CFL seasons 1958 to present were corrected. Since incorrect data was widely reported on the site, we want to draw special attention to this issue. Anyone who has used CFLdb Statistics data as a source, whether with accreditation link or not, will be in error, no longer match the source and should be corrected. We still encourage spot checks of all calculations on CFLdb Statistics to avoid introducing errors into your work. September will see the remaining leagues and seasons updated.
August was spent on addressing many bugs on the site and paying down technical debt in schedule creation, weather updates and automation. Changes close to release that will drop in September include adding 2021 rosters (automated after game completion) and adding some data not currently present. After that, methods to examine and query grad program (school) and birthplaces of players will likely be started.
Please report any issues you come across in the data on the site or in its display. If you have concerns over the absence of data or how it is displayed, please let CFLdb know. Thank you for taking the time to make the site better by adding information and sources, eliminating errors and correcting misleading information.
If CFLdb missed your contribution this or any other month, please send a gentle reminder so the record may be corrected. And apologies for the unintended slight.
Send all contributions, corrections and suggestions to me via methods found on the Contact page. All contributions are credited, with more prominent credit for the largest statistics contributors on the CFLdb Statistics contributor page. The contributor list does, then, reflect the true owners of the site, those that research, compile and contribute data and corrections.
