October 2019 Release Notes

The October 2019 release notes for the CFLdb family of sites involves rounding out the site design updates and more data updates to the CFLdb Statistics site. Read on to discover more.

The following changes have been made to CFLdb since the last report:

  • Enhancement: Completed deployment to updated design for improved mobile experience. Foundation laid for future work and improvements.

The following changes have been made to CFLdb Razzle Dazzle since the last report:

  • Enhancement: Completed deployment to updated design for improved mobile experience. Foundation laid for future work and improvements.

The following changes have been made to CFLdb Statistics since the last report:

  • Data: Added ORFU rosters for seasons from 1956-1960 plus biographical data (Thanks Mark!).
  • Data: Added three jersey number updates (Thanks Mark!).
  • Data: Various other data updates (over 2,100 updates, additions and deletions this month).
  • Enhancement: Completed work on updated design for remaining pages for improved mobile experience. Foundation laid for future work and improvements.
  • Bug: Fix division opponent record display for current season, added popup of list of remaining games for teams.
  • Bug: Remove last streak for all-star and other team, only show streak section when valid.
  • Bug: Correctly display defensive 2 point convert score in game scoring summary.
  • Bug: Include fan points in Top Performers point totals.

Along with numerous other cosmetic, data, performance, administrative, or infrastructure related bug fixes and enhancements (55 commits this month).

Roadmap

The CFLdb design refresh is complete. I am working on backend changes while there is a pause to major changes or data additions to the site during the busy time from now until Christmas. After backend changes are complete, a revisit of CFLdb Statistics site will continue with design improvements and additional data presented. Plans for improving the database contents are in the works for next year. At some point, ideas on improving the FAQ and Rulebook resources will be executed.

Send all contributions, corrections and suggestions to me via methods found on the Contact page. All contributions are credited, with more prominent credit for the largest statistics contributors on the CFLdb Statistics contributor page. The contributor list will, therefore, reflect the true owners of the site, those that research, compile and contribute data and corrections.
