The June 2019 release notes for the CFLdb family of sites documents the numerous data updates to the CFLdb Statistics site and other changes. Read on to learn more.

The following changes have been made to CFLdb since the last report:

  • Update: 2019 schedules updated.
  • Update: Rulebook updated to 2019 version .

The following changes have been made to CFLdb Statistics since the last report:

  • Data: Added 2,753 jersey numbers for players in seasons from 1976-1988 (Thanks Mark!).
  • Data: Fixed duplicates/misspelling on eight drafted players discovered through data audits, consolidating to single database entry. This affected draft success played and success percentage for four teams — CGY +2 (+0.43%), EDM +4 (+0.93%), WPG +1 (+0.26%), OTTRR +1 (+0.32%). The league percentage increased 0.16% and league GP by 391 and team GP by 159. A reminder why compiled/calculated statistics are unofficial and how simple errors in the underlying data affects the data displayed.
  • Data: Various other data updates (5,180 updates, additions and deletions this month).
  • Enhancement: Display assistant coach preferred name, coaching end date on assistant coach lists.
  • Enhancement: Improve the data warning message and when displayed on league pages.
  • Enhancement: Add favicon/mobile icons to site.
  • Bug: Fixed player counts from city on city pages.
  • Bug: Fix display/layout bug on team player participation (roster) pages.
  • Bug: Fix bug on standings compile, ordering teams correctly with same points but different games played (really this time).

The following site was decommissioned since the last report:

  • Canadian Football Datasette

Along with numerous other cosmetic, data, performance, administrative, or infrastructure related bug fixes and enhancements (28 commits this month).

Thanks to contributor Mark this month.

CFLdb Statistics will be undergoing a design refresh (new coat of paint) starting in July to make the site more mobile friendly. This means less data on a single page and the elimination of the summary components. Efforts will continue through the summer to restructure the components of the site while the opportunity to add, expand and improve the data available will be explored. Please check upcoming release notes for a list of changes and enhancements to CFLdb Statistics.

CFLdb is also slated for the design refresh, though it is currently scheduled to occur after CFLdb Statistics, but that may change.
