The August 2017 release notes for the CFLdb family of sites is light on improvements for a change.
The following changes have been made to CFLdb Statistics since the last report:
Along with numerous other performance, administrative, or infrastructure related bug fixes and enhancements.
The amount of visible work done on the sites last month is the least in a long time. A lack of time was the major cause for this lack of production. Most of the time spent on the sites went to normal maintenance and dealing with correspondence. Due to a busy personal and work schedule, little time was left to focus on site improvements. This may continue for the next couple months, but should be relieved afterwards.
I wish to prioritize my time working on enhancing the site, exposing more of the data in the database to the public and allowing visitors to find answers to more of their questions. I determine the things I wish to add, improve and correct on the site, only because the number of requests, suggestions and votes I receive for changes is zero. This means I often work on new things before fixing and continuing other initiatives.
While data inconsistencies are reported, interface issues have never been reported, leaving these to be found by myself (and remember to note them). I use CFLdb Statistics the least, and catching regression issues due to data changes/differences on 20,000 pages is a job I don’t wish to undertake. Kindly reporting issues with the appearance or navigation of the sites will mean they get addressed immediately, for the benefit of all.
I receive plenty of donations of data, however, no contributions for formatting data in a useable format or data entry. I am not a researcher or football historian, yet I am left spending most of my time on the site getting donated data into the site to recognize the donation. I would prefer to spend my time improving the site and mining the data. Volunteers for formatting, cleaning and entering data in a useable format are welcome. Instructions and training will be provided, and you may choose to do as much or little as you desire.
Send all contributions, corrections and suggestions to me via methods found on the Contact page. All contributions are credited, with more prominent credit for the largest contributors on the home page. The home page will, therefore, reflect the true owners of the site, those that research, compile and contribute data and corrections.
