CFLdb is happy to announce that the Official Playing Rules for the Canadian Football League 2009 are now available in our searchable permalink format.
It appears this web format is allowing many fans to find answers to their rule questions when searching the web. The site has seen specific traffic from searches during and after games where controversial call and non-calls alike have been made. For example, there was a spike in searches for tripping on the first day of the season due to a Ti-Cat player being seemingly tripped by the Argo kicker on a return. Yesterday’s ‘Rider/Esks game caused an increase in people arriving from searches on reviewable plays and reviewable incomplete pass queries.
In addition, other general queries on officials, scoring, instant replay and rules have been occurring regularly. I encourage visitors to bookmark the site and come back whenever they need CFL rulebook answers. I have improved some of the internal links from page to page, left links to the 2008 rulebook pages for comparison purposes and improved the search (limited only by the words the CFL includes in the rulebook). For debates on forums, linking to the exact text of the rule will help you make your point, whether a call was missed, incorrectly called or for arguing for a rule change.
As always, please let me know if you find any errors in the text translation to the web.
