Regarding TV Ratings

In our age of instant and all information at our fingertips, television ratings for CFL are highly sought out. As the league’s popularity has grown, more people seeking out rating numbers for various reasons — curiosity, proof of popularity, questioning their validity — come forward. This creates a lot of comments, questions and misinformation on the ratings, the CFL‘s position amongst programs and how the system works. The fallacies created can be debunked with a little knowledge and a lot of common sense.

Attendance Fix

Thanks to Jim for noticing and reporting a problem with the McMahon Stadium capacity used for Calgary Stampeder games in 2013 on CFLdb Statistics. An incorrect stadium instance was used for the games, making the percentage of capacity numbers incorrect. The issue has been corrected and attendance numbers recompiled.

If you find any such errors or issues, no matter how small, or have votes or suggestions on new features, please let me know. I appreciate all correspondence that aims to help.

Stadium Labour Day

On the Forthcoming CBA Negotiations

The current Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CFL and its member clubs and the Canadian Football League Players’ Association expires after the 2013 season. Signed before the 2010 season, the four year deal was purposely arranged to expire before the introduction of the next television contract. Formal negotiations will not likely begin until the upcoming offseason where the league will be negotiating from an unprecedented level of growth, revenue and stability. How this new contract should be structured and what it should bring for the league and the players is already a hot topic across the land. An examination of the possible priorities of both parties as well as the desires of external interests is laid out below.
